Skin Resurfacing VS Chemical Peeling

Now have you ever thought…. Crikey chemical peeling sounds far too harsh for my skin and as though my face could literally peel off?!

You certainly wouldn’t be the first to have this thought and through reading this article I will look to help clarify and reassure you in the difference between the two offerings and why I have ventured into the world of Skin Resurfacing. Saying "Avedisian" "Au revoir" and "Adios" to traditional chemical peels!

From my 15 years’ experience as a Facialist I have trailed & trained in differing systems and decidedly found resurfacing to be the best and safest way to treat all skin conditions. pH Formula is my chosen professional skincare, it is the first pharma-cosmeceutical skin resurfacing line, which is the result of an innovative alliance between cosmeceuticals and medical prescriptions.

The action of controlled chemical skin resurfacing is totally different than conventional peelings.

Conventional Peels

Conventional Peels are typically high strength singular acids applied to the skin surface and require the specialist to neutralise the skin at the end of treatment. These peels mainly cause skin exfoliation, skin shedding, high inflammation and sometimes temporary sensitivity and tissue damage. Of course, these peels work but it’s the downside with the unpredictability and that they are unsuitable for certain skin colours. When having these treatments in the past I have found myself very much at the mercy of the treatment and hiding away at home until my downtime passes and a very impatient me sees the arrival of my results in 10-14days! It really can be quite the commitment and unfortunately often with the desired result not easily achieved.

Skin Resurfacing

Whereas thankfully the modern controlled resurfacing actively provokes an accelerated form of cell regeneration in the different layers of the skin, whilst preserving the integrity of your skin’s epidermis (outermost layer). This means that the skin is treated at a deeper level with an inside out approach and the outer layer of skin is still able to function effectively.

A combination of acids are applied to the skin at a controlled strength, all are self-neutralising left on for maximum results: sensitive skins require mild formulations, whereas for healthy or well prepared skins I use medium- high strength formulations to effectively treat complaints. Meaning the strength and depth of the treatment is easily controlled- unlike the conventional peels.

A Skin sensitivity test is also performed to determine the skins health both on the surface and underneath and from this a prescriptive treatment is devised. These clinical facials offer patients no downtime, no peeling and no impact on social interactions! You can confidently come into clinic and have one of our skin resurfacing treatments during your lunch break!
